UnitedHealthcare (UNH) lost a legal battle over the cost of medical treatment, Mark Vandevelde of The Financial Times reports. KKR-owned (KKR) Envision Healthcare sued UnitedHealthcare back in 2018 to dispute billing practices. The lawsuit soon moved from federal court to a secretive arbitration panel out from public view. In a ruling made earlier this year which has not previously been made public, three arbitrators sided with Envision’s claim that UnitedHealthcare breached the contracts between the two company’s by unilaterally reducing reimbursement rates for services. It was ruled that UnitedHealth must pay $91M, according to a redacted copy of the arbitrator’s report that was seen by the Financial Times. Reference Link
