United Airlines (UAL) is close to a deal to buy a “double digit” number of A321 narrowbody jets from Airbus (EADSY), Bloomberg’s Mary Schlangenstein, Siddharth Vikram Philip, and Julie Johnsson report. According to people familiar with the matter, an order could be announced as soon as Tuesday. United already has 120 A321s on backlog with Airbus, the report notes, adding that the A321 rivals Boeing’s (BA) 757s.
