The United Auto Workers, UAW, union remains far apart in negotiations for a new labor agreement with Detroit automakers, including General Motors (GM), Ford (F), and Stellantis (STLA), Ryan Felton of The Wall Street Journal reports. UAW President Shawn Fain has said the union has gotten closer to a deal with these companies but doubts the deal will be reached prior to the deadline on Thursday. If a deal is not reached, a strike will occur at a limited number of factories initially, Fain said, according to the Journal.
