The U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the Federal Trade Commission are rolling out a unified effort to encourage consumers of residential solar technology to report scammy behaviors, while also educating customers about what bad actors are doing, TIME’s Alana Samuels reports. By getting more people to report solar companies engaging in scammy behavior, they can more effectively track complaints and aim to hold companies accountable, government officials told TIME. Publicly traded companies in the residential solar space include First Solar (FSLR), Epnhase Energy (ENPH), SolarEdge (SEDG), Sunnova (NOVA), Canadian Solar (CSIQ), and JinkoSolar (JKS).
