U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo says she plans to give roughly 12 CHIPS Act grants within the next year, including some worth billions of dollars, Reuters’ David Shepardson reports. Raimondo on Monday announced the first award, $35M to a BAE Systems (BAESY) facility in Hampshire to produce chips for fighter planes. “Next year we’ll get into some of the bigger ones with leading-edge fabs,” Raimondo told reporters. “A year from now I think we will have made 10 or 12 similar announcements, some of them multibillion dollar announcements.” Other publicly traded companies in the space include AMD (AMD), Intel (INTC), Marvell (MRVL), Microchip (MCHP), Micron (MU), Nvidia (NVDA), Qualcomm (QCOM) and Texas Instruments (TXN).
