Credit Suisse analyst A.J. Rice tells investors in a research note that the award of the TRICARE East and West contracts is a win for Humana (HUM), but a loss for Centene (CNC). For Humana, the company has already contemplated a shift in lives from the contract, but Rice believes Centene did not contemplate the loss of the TRICARE contract in their 2024 planning. While the loss of the business is disappointing for Centene, the impact is relatively modest compared to other contracts such as the CA Medicaid contract, Rice contends.
