Toyota is aiming to shift most, and maybe all, of its Toyota and Lexus line-ups to hybrid-only models, Reuters’ Norihiko Shirouzu reports, citing two Toyota executives. The car maker’s focus on hybrids over electric vehicles is part of a wider challenge by the company to the prevailing industry and regulatory orthodoxy that all vehicles will be electric soon, the author notes. “Going forward, we plan to evaluate, carline by carline, whether going all-hybrid makes sense,” David Christ, head of sales and marketing for Toyota in North America, told Reuters.
