Microsoft (MSFT), Google (GOOGL), and Amazon (AMZN) are spending billions of dollars in building data centers that would power cloud computing and AI services, but it is becoming difficult to find suitable locations with sufficient power for the facilities, Camilla Hodgson of The Financial Times reports. Due to difficulties finding locations, these companies are turning to industrial sites. Microsoft intends to develop data centers on the sites of old Eggborough and Skelton Grange power stations in northern England while Amazon is planning a campus on site of the old Birchwood power station in Virginia.
