Shares of Super Micro Computer (SMCI) are up $31.04, or 3%, to $941.00 in pre-market after Nasdaq (NDAQ) on July 12 announced that Super Micro will become a component of the Nasdaq-100 Index and the Nasdaq-100 Equal Weighted Index prior to market open on Monday, July 22. Super Micro will replace Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) in the Nasdaq-100 Index and the Nasdaq-100 Equal Weighted Index. “Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. will also be removed from the Nasdaq-100 Ex-Tech Sector Index, the Nasdaq-100 ESG Index, and the Nasdaq-100 Sustainable ESG Select Index on the same date. Super Micro Computer Inc. will be considered for inclusion in the Nasdaq-100 Tech Sector Index, the Nasdaq-100 Technology Sector Market-Cap Weighted Index, and the Nasdaq-100 Technology Sector Adjusted Market-Cap Weighted Index at the next quarterly rebalancing,” Nasdaq noted.
