In an interview on CNBC’s Mad Money, Brian Niccol said, “We’ve changed the focus from task to customer service. We’ve started the process of uplifting our stores, bringing them back to a coffee house.” He added that a lot of customers have told management that they’ve noticed a difference. He feels the company was probably too focused on efficiency and not enough on customer service. Employee turnover is lower than 50% and customer engagement is higher. He added that the company is ahead of schedule with its turnaround and eventually the stock price will take care of itself. The China business continues to perform and is working its way back to a performance that it’s capable of, he noted.
