Microsoft (MSFT) said it created a “new state of matter” that represents a major advance for quantum computing, but physicists who have reviewed the work say they aren’t convinced, The Wall Street Journal’s Nidhi Subbaraman reports. According to scientists who reviewed the work, research the company published in Nature last week doesn’t provide conclusive evidence of the breakthrough, and Microsoft instead makes major claims on top of what the Nature paper shows without sharing data to support the assertions.
