The U.S. intends to award over $6B to Samsung (SSNLF) to help the company expand beyond an already-announced project in Texas, Bloomberg’s Mackenzie Hawkins and Yoolim Lee report, citing people familiar with the matter. The funds from the 2022 Chips and Science Act would be part of a number of significant awards that the Commerce Department is slated to announce in the coming weeks, including a grant of over $5B to TSMC (TSM), the authors note.
