Rivian had set out to build an electric vehicle pickup truck with sport-car handling and many different features, Sean McLain of The Wall Street Journal reports. All of this comes with a cost, for Rivian vehicles sell for over $80,000 on average, yet they are so expensive to build that in Q2 the company lost $33,000 on every vehicle it sold. In two years, Rivian has blown through half of its $18B cash pile.
