Residents reject Tesla’s plan to expand German facility, FT reports

Residents of Grunheide, the site of Tesla’s only European assembly facility, have rejected plans by the company to significantly expand the plant, The Financial Times’ Guy Chazan reports. About 65% of those who voted in a local referendum in Grunheide expressed opposition to Tesla’s plan, which involves the clearing of 100 hectares of forest to make way for a railway station, warehouses and a day-care center, according to the report. The company is “still convinced that the logistical optimization of the factory would be a big win for the community” and that it will “agree on further steps together with all those concerned, on the basis of the feedback from the last few weeks,” the FT adds.
