Reliance Industries is nearing a multibillion dollar cash and stock deal to buy Disney’s India operations, Bloomberg’s Baiju Kalesh, P R Sanjai, and Preeti Singh. According to people familiar with the matter, Disney may sell a controlling stake in the Disney Star business, which it values at around $10B, instead of piecemeal transactions it weighed earlier. The sources say that reliance views the assets at $7B-$8B, and a deal could be announced as early as next month with some of Reliance’s media units merged into Disney Star.
