Billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to submit an improved offer of more than GBP 5B including debt to buy football club Manchester United, people briefed about the matter told Financial Times’ Samuel Agini and James Fontanella-Khan. Ratcliffe, the founder of the Ineos chemicals empire, is up against Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani for the takeover and both are submitting their proposals to the Glazer family who control the soccer club ahead of a 9 pm U.K. deadline on Wednesday, the sources said.
