PepsiCo using only 36 of promised 100 Tesla Semis, Reuters reports

While PepsiCo (PEP) made initial payments for 100 Tesla (TSLA) Semis in 2017, the company is using only 36 of the electric trucks as of this month, Jessica DiNapoli of Reuters reports, citing Pepsi and one of its executives with knowledge of the deal. The shortfall “lays bare the challenges for Tesla as it seeks to become a high-volume player in the truck-manufacturing business,” according to Reuters. DiNapoli says other would-be Tesla customers, including Sysco (SYY), UPS (UPS) and Walmart (WMT) continue to wait for Tesla Semi trucks and are turning to rival electric truck makers.
