The New York Times (NYT) and OpenAI could may end up in a legal tussle ,as attorneys for the newspaper explore ways to protect “intellectual property rights associated with its reporting,” writes NPR’s Bobby Allyn. The NY Times and the maker of ChatGPT have have been trying to negotiate a licensing deal for weeks now, “in which OpenAI would pay the Times for incorporating its stories in the tech company’s AI tools, but the discussions have become so contentious that the paper is now considering legal action,” noted NPR. Companies said to benefit from the implementation of using ChatGPT include Microsoft (MSFT), Expedia (EXPE), Coca-Cola (KO) Snap (SNAP) and Meta Platforms (META).
