The board of Norfolk Southern is investigating whether CEO Alan Shaw had an inappropriate relationship with the company’s Chief Legal Officer Nabanita Nag, Rohan Goswami of CNBC reports, citing several people with direct knowledge of the board’s thinking. Nag oversees a large portion of Norfolk’s operations, including government relations, communications and compliance, according to CNBC. Two of the leading internal candidates to replace Shaw are COO John Orr and CFO Mark George, a person with knowledge of the board’s planning told the website.
