No survivors expected from American Airlines plane crash, CNN reports

No survivors are expected after the midair collision between a plane and a military helicopter last night in the Washington, DC, area, Fire and EMS Chief John A. Donnelly said Thursday, CNN reports. Meanwhile, American Airlines (AAL) CEO Robert Isom said the two pilots aboard Flight 5342 were experienced pilots, and that the captain had “almost six years with PSA (Airlines), and the first officer almost two years.” Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy told reporters on Thursday that the midair collision between the American Airlines regional jet and a military helicopter was “preventable.” Shares of American Airlines are down 4% in pre-market trading.
