In a regulatory filing this week, the NHTSA said it has “upgraded” its April 2024 probe into Ford’s (F) BlueCruise, a driver assistance system that was active during two fatal crashes, to an engineering analysis. The agency said its initial investigation found BlueCruise has limitations in the “detection of stationary vehicles in certain conditions.” “Additionally, system performance may be limited when there is poor visibility due to insufficient illumination,” NHTSA said.
