Newmont has started the sale of its Akyem gold mine in Ghana, which is attracting interest from potential bidders including Chinese producers, Vinicy Chan of Bloomberg reports, citing people with knowledge of the matter. Newmont is working with Citigroup on the disposal and has started sounding out prospective suitors, sources told Bloomberg. Shandong Gold Mining and Zijin Mining Group are among the companies showing early interest in the asset, the sources added.
