Centrist senator Rodrigo Paz has been elected Bolivia’s next president, according to preliminary results, Isabel Debre and Paola Flores of the Associated Press report. Paz won 54.5% of the votes, early results show, versus former right-wing President Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga’s 45.5%, the AP says. Shares of New Pacific Metals (NEWP), a Canadian exploration and development company with three precious metal projects in Bolivia, are up 2.25% to $2.51 in morning trading.
