Microsoft (MSFT) recently considered building a "super app" that could combine shopping, messaging, web search, news feeds and other services in a one-stop smartphone app in hopes to boost the company’s advertising business and Bing search, draw more users to Teams messaging and other mobile services, and break the hold Apple (AAPL) and Google (GOOGL) currently have over mobile search, according to The Information’s Aaron Holmes and Jon Victor, citing people with direct knowledge of the discussions.
