Microsoft to sell Teams and Office separately worldwide, Reuters reports

Microsoft (MSFT) intends to sell its Teams app separately from its Office suite worldwide six months after the company unbundled the two products in Europe in an effort ot avert a potential EU fine, Reuters’ Foo Yun Chee reports. The European Commission has been examining the software giant’s tying of Office and Teams since a 2020 complaint by Salesforce-owned (CRM) Slack, the author notes. “To ensure clarity for our customers, we are extending the steps we took last year to unbundle Teams from M365 and O365 in the European Economic Area and Switzerland to customers globally,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.
