Microsoft (MSFT) has given up its seat as an observer on the board of OpenAI and Apple (AAPL) will not take up a similar position, Camilla Hodgson and George Hammond of The Financial Times reports. Microsoft has invested $13B in OpenAI and will withdrawal its board role “effective immediately,” the Times said, citing a letter to OpenAI. Apple has also been expected to take an observer role on OpenAI’s board, but would not do so, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.
