Meta is merging the teams managing its Messenger and Facebook businesses into one entity as the company gets ready for layoffs next week, The Information’s Kalley Huang and Erin Woo report. Under the shake-up, Messenger boss Loredana Crisan will move to Meta‘s genAI group, while Facebook boss Tom Allison will also oversee Messenger, the authors say, citing two people with direct knowledge of the situation. The company is also shuffling its generative AI group, with chief engineers Ryan Cairns and Ning Li both moving tot other parts of Meta, the authors note.
