Meta recently tried acquiring Safe Superintelligence, CNBC reports

Meta Platforms (META) recently tried to acquire Safe Superintelligence, the artificial intelligence startup launched by OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, Kate Rooney of CNBC reports, citing sources familiar with the matter. When Sutskever rebuffed the offer as well as Meta’s attempt to hire him, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg moved to recruit the Safe Superintelligence’s CEO and co-founder Daniel Gross instead, sources told CNBC. Zuckerberg also started recruiting former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman when the Safe Superintelligence talks ended, according to the website. Both men are joining Meta as part and the company will take a stake in their venture fund, one source told CNBC.
