Meta Platforms is planning even more job cuts to be announced in multiple rounds over the coming months that in the aggregate would be approximately of similar magnitude as the 13% slash to its headcount last year, the Wall Street Journal’s Jeff Horwitz, Salvador Rodriguez, and Sam Schechner report, citing people familiar with the matter. The new layoffs, the first wave of which is anticipated to be announced next week, will likely affect non-engineering roles particularly hard, the authors say, noting the Facebook parent is also expected to shut down certain projects and teams in conjunction with such workforce reductions.
