McDonald’s intends to accelerate the pace of new location openings while engaging in a cost-cutting program anticipated to result in job losses, the Financial Times’ Andrew Edgecliffe-Johnson reports. Chris Kempczinski, McDonald’s CEO since 2019, told FT in an interview that systemwide sales had risen by $20B to $120B a year since the start of the pandemic.
