In an article detailing how Tesla (TSLA) board members made hundreds of millions from stock awards and separate investments, even as some have done drugs with its CEO Elon Musk, Kirsten Grind, Emily Glazer, Rebecca Elliott and Coulter Jones reported that former Tesla board member and good friend of Musk, Oracle’s (ORCL) Larry Ellison, urged Musk around the winter of 2022 to come to his Hawaiian island to relax from work and dry out from the drugs, according to people familiar with the offer. The Journal also claims that multiple other directors of Musk companies have deep personal and financial ties to him and have profited enormously from the relationship.” The connections are an extreme blurring of friendship and fortune and raise questions among some shareholders about the independence of the board members charged with overseeing the chief executive,” the Journal says.
