Companies such as Apple (AAPL) and Google (GOOGL) will be subject to a web of regulations to prevent them from abusing their monopoly positions in the Japanese market, Nikkei’s Isao Horikoshi reports. The government plans to prevent companies that provide smartphone operating systems from monopolizing app store operations and payment systems, and is expected to submit a draft law to the Diet by the end of next year, allowing the country’s Fair Trade Commission to fine companies for violations, the paper said.
