Intel (INTC) will likely be facing fierce battles for market shares in 2024 and beyond as more computers begin to have processors from an array of manufacturers, Christopher Mims of The Wall Street Journal reports. These other manufacturers include Qualcomm (QCOM) as well as Nvidia (NVDA), AMD (AMD), and MediaTek. Ever since ARM (ARM) built the mobile processor, the design has been gaining steam. Google (GOOG;GOOGL), Qualcomm, Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), and other can use ARM’s blueprints to custom-design chips that power a wide range of devices, but Intel did not enter the business until 2011, which was far too late. Now, threats to Intel are numerous as The Mac and Chromebooks eat more of Intel’s market share and Windows-based devices begin to increasingly include non-Intel processors.
