Honda (HMC) and Nissan (NSANY) intend to start merger discussions as soon as Monday as the two car makers aim to establish a group than rival Toyota (TM) in capital-intensive areas such as electric vehicles, Nikkei Asia’s Akihiro Ota and Shuhei Ochiai report. Honda sees a collaboration with Nissan as a way to make up lost time in electric vehicles and software, the authors note.
