Google to block election ads after polls close November 5, Axios reports

Google (GOOGL) will block U.S. election ads after the polls close on November 5 to prevent voting misinformation, including candidates prematurely claiming victory, Sara Fischer of Axios reports. Google is implementing the policy “out of an abundance of caution and to limit the potential for confusion, given the likelihood that votes will continue to be counted after Election Day,” a spokesperson says. Meta (META) says it will block new political, electoral and social issue ads during the final week of the U.S. election campaign.
