Google is laying off hundreds of staff working on its Google Assistant software and is cutting a “similar” number of roles on its knowledge and information product teams, Semafor’s Louise Matsakis reports. The restructuring will help improve Assistant as the company explores integrating newer AI tech into its products, a spokesperson said.
