Goldman Sachs (GS) is mulling abandoning its partnership with Apple (AAPL), as the bank is in talks with American Express (AXP) to take over its Apple credit card and other ventures with the iPhone maker, the Wall Street Journal’s AnnaMaria Andriotis reports, citing people familiar with the matter. The Wall Street firm went publis with plans to curtail its consumer business late last year, but at the time appeared to remain committed to the Apple partnership, the author says. Now, Goldman is in talks to offload such businesses and its credit-card partnership to Amex, the author notes, citing people fmailiar with the discussions. The bank has also been in talks over transferring its card partnership with General Motors (GM) to Amex or another issuer, the author says.
