Goldman CEO Solomon plans to remain for ‘a while,’ WSJ reports

Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon has told top executives in recent months that he plans to remain in the top job for ‘a while,’ The Wall Street Journal’s AnnaMaria Andriotis reports, citing people familiar with the matter, who add that Solomon has also been getting more involved in the day-to-day running of the firm. The race to succeed Solomon is now seen as more open, though president and COO John Waldron has long been viewed as the front-runner to become Goldman’s next CEO, potentially as soon as this year. “Nothing has changed for David and John,” Goldman spokesman Tony Fratto said. “Their focus on the firm this year is no different than it was last year or the year before,” he said, adding that “David has never indicated a timeline.”
