About 1,200 workers at General Motors (GM)’ Detroit-area all-electric plant will be laid off as the company downsizes in response to the slowing electric vehicle market, while the company also will cut 550 jobs at its joint-venture Ultium Cells battery cell plant in Ohio and the Ultium Tennessee plant will temporarily lay off 700 workers, reported Summer Ballentine for The Detroit News.
