A late night fire at a Novelis aluminum plant in New York is going to disrupt business at Ford (F) and other car makers for months to come, the Wall Street Journal’s Sharon Terlep and Bob Tita report. Novelis supplies roughly 40% of the aluminum sheet used by the car industry in the U.S., with Ford the biggest user of the Oswego aluminum plant, notably for its F-150 pickup, the author says, noting that the plant has been knocked offline until early next year. The setback is so severe that Ford will likely flag possible implications to investors when it reports quarterly results later this month, the author says, citing people familiar with the matter.
