Florida’s GOP-led state Senate voted to pass a bill to let the state take over the Reedy Creek Improvement District, the government body that has given Disney unique powers in respect to its Orlando-area theme parks, CNN reports. The measure, which will replace the district’s existing board by a five-member board hand-picked by Governor Ron DeSantis, passed the Republican-controlled House on Thursday and now heads to the desk of DeSantis, who is expected to sign it.
