Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation that takes control of a special tax district surrounding Walt Disney World in Orlando that for half a century allowed Disney to operate with a greater level of autonomy, Reuters’ Dawn Chmielewski and Helen Coster report. "The corporate kingdom finally comes to an end," the governor said during a press event at Lake Buena Vista near Orlando. State Republicans last year targeted the media conglomerate after it publicly clashed with DeSantis over a law that restricts classroom instruction of gender and sexual orientation, the authors note.
