FirstEnergy announced that the board of directors has unanimously agreed to appoint Brian Tierney president and CEO, effective June 1. He succeeds interim President and CEO John Somerhalder II. MSomerhalder also serves as chair of FirstEnergy’s board, a position he will continue to hold. After FirstEnergy’s May 2023 annual meeting, Tierney is expected to be appointed by the board to serve as a director effective June 1.
