Square Enix’s (SQNXF) “Final Fantasy 16” ended its first week of release comfortably in first place in the U.K.’s weekly boxed video game charts, Gamesindustry.biz’s Christopher Dring reports. The title, which is a PlayStation 5 (SONY) exclusive, is the fifth fastest-selling boxed game of 2023 in the U.K. so far, behind Nintendo’s (NTDOY) “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” Warner Bros. Discovery’s (WBD) “Hogwarts Legacy,” Electronic Arts’ (EA) “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,” and Capcom’s (CCOEY) “Resident Evil 4” remake, Dring notes. The arrival of “Final Fantasy 16” means that “Zelda” has dropped to second place, with sales down 35% week-on-week, the author notes.
