Federal judge blocks FTC rule banning noncompete deals, Bloomberg says

U.S. District Judge Ada Brown in Dallas has determined that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission can’t enforce its near-total ban on noncompete deals because the agency does not have the authority to enact the rule, Bloomberg’s Madlin Mekelburg reports. The federal judge sided with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a Texas-based tax firm that sued to block the enforcement, writing in her decision that the rule is “unreasonably overbroad without a reasonable explanation,” the author notes.
