The FDA in 2020 warned that Merck’s Singulair could cause aggression, agitation and even suicidal thoughts, but many people weren’t informed, and the drug was still prescribed to 12M people in the U.S. as of 2022, The New York Times’ Christina Jewett and Benjamin Mueller report. The FDA had flagged the 2020 “boxed warning” to physicians’ groups, but it had not required that doctors be educated about the drug’s side effects, according to the report.
