Boeing (BA) is expected to regain authority from the FAA to conduct final safety checks on its 737 MAX jets in an approval that could be announced as soon as Friday, the Wall Street Journal’s Andrew Tangel and Drew Fitzgerald report, citing people familiar with the matter. Staff of the aerospace giant would regain authority to perform the safety signoffs in phases, while FAA inspectors will continue to be involved in issuing airworthiness certificates.
