F5 blames China-backed hackers for breach, Bloomberg reports

F5 (FFIV) is blaming its cybersecurity attacked on state-backed hackers from China, Margi Murphy. Patrick Howell O’Neill and Jordan Robertson of Bloomberg report, citing people familiar with the matter. F5 has told customers that the hackers were in the company’s network for at least 12 months, sources told Bloomberg. The company’s CEO Francois Locoh-Donou is personally briefing customers about the timeline and the China-linked hackers, the people added. F5 sent customers a threat hunting guide for Brickstorm malware used by a Chinese state-backed hacking group, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Shares of F5 are down 31c to $120.78 in early trading.
