The EU plans to impose a ban on equipment from Huawei and ZTE Corp. (ZTCOY) from its own internal telecommunications networks, Bloomberg’s Jillian Deutsch reports, citing sources. In the EU’s review of the 5G “toolbox,” the commission will say that publicly excluding Huawei and ZTE from national networks is justified and will explicitly call out Huawei and ZTE as high-risk vendors by name for the first time, Deutsche writes. Publicly traded companies that may be impacted by the news include IPG Photonics (IPGP), Coherent (COHR), nLight (LASR), II-VI (IIVI), Lumentum (LITE), and Veeco (VECO).
