EU delaying DMA penalties for Apple, Meta, Euronews reports

The European Commission has opted not to impose immediate financial penalties on Apple (AAPL) and Meta (META), even if they fail to meet the compliance deadline for the EU’s digital regulations, Peggy Corlin of Euronews reports. In April, Apple and Meta were fined EUR500M and EUR200M, respectively, for non-compliance with the Digital Markets Act and gave both companies until June 26 to bring their practices in line with EU rules. An EU spokesperson confirmed that the U.S. tech giants will not face instant sanctions for not fulfilling their obligations under the DMA but only after the Commission conducts a preliminary analysis and shares its findings with the companies as part of an ongoing exchange process.
